Caleta de Famara is located in the northwestern part of the island, a bay with a beach of over 7 km, surrounded by impressive rocky mountain behind him, El Risco de Famara, characteristics that make it the main island kitesurfing spots Lanzarote.
Lanzarote is situated on the route of the trade winds that blow pretty steadily from April to September, north, north-east (side, side on to the beach area of the kite) with an intensity that average is around 25 knots.
The kite area is located at the northern beach of Famara. The tide turns completely spot. At low tide you have available a very large beach as well as long and so very clean and smooth, while at high tide the strip of sand is reduced considerably and the sea becomes more chopposo.
The waves on the beach of Famara in the summer are hardly impressive, it is mostly small left and right rather long perfect for fun without danger and to become familiar with the ride (with or without the kite).
In winter, while the probability of wind down, the waves become progressively larger often reaching five meters high and showing us all their power.
Of course there are much more extreme and spots suitable for expert wave rider. Some of these are real "secret spot" where surfers do not like to see the place sails flapping, while others are more practical and good destination for day trips.
Playa Blanca is one of these spots. Playa Blanca is the southernmost city in the island, from where ferries to Fuerteventura. The channel between the two islands often have strong winds and staying along the coast is generally a gym of flat water perfect for freestyle. The kite trips to Playa Blanca are organized with a support boat and departure by boat.
The island of Graciosa is another kite spots accessible by sea. I carry the water taxi service to and from the island, with a cost for groups of about 8 people is around € 10 per person (return). There are two possibilities: the beach in the Mirador del Rio (on the island of Lanzarote) or the other side of the channel island of Graciosa. The uscide here are generally side off wind and still water.
